Campus Activity
KyungHee university places great emphasis on practice beyond academic research. Every year, the university's interest and practice in ESG are well demonstrated at the PBF event. This year, various events such as the UNAI ASPIRE KyungHee Peace Forum, World Peace Education, Global Citizenship Education, World Citizen Seminar, Talk Concert, and Peace Movement Photo Exhibition were held to deeply discuss climate and environmental issues with various NGO organizations including UNESCO participating.

We have made many efforts towards energy conservation and greenhouse gas reduction, with the university management team taking the lead. Some of the efforts that have been easily accessible to members include replacing fluorescent lights with LED lights, conserving energy and water, and practicing waste segregation. In addition, we have also replaced electric EHP cooling and heating systems with gas-powered GHP systems to improve energy efficiency.
Kyung Hee University began to desigate "Eco-Friendly Campus Week" since 2019, to contribute to energy saving campus and also to boost up the morale of the members by supporting work and life balance of their lives. "Eco-Friendly Campus Week" takes place during every summer and winter vacation when the year's most extreme weather bothers the earth. The whole campus closes and all the members are given free days-off to avoid the extrem heat and cold waves. With this energy-saving and low carbon green campus policy, it was estimated to reduce the consumption of electricity, gas and cogeneration approximately 964MwH, 74,672㎥, 31Gcal respectively every year.
Recently, in order to systematically pursue the efforts made by the university management team for energy savings and greenhouse gas reduction, the Office of General Administration and Management of both campuses is leading the "Green Campus Construction Project" and has established a practical task force to identify and carry out feasible projects within the university. The goal of this project is to conduct research on "inventory building solutions (such as renewable energy facilities)," "greenhouse gas reduction solutions (such as reducing power, water resources, and waste)," and "creation of eco-friendly greenery (carbon offsetting through the establishment of forest management plans)." The specific practical items selected and being pursued are as follows.
