Profile

Dr. Eun Yeol Lee graduated from the Department of Chemical Engineering (currently Chemical and Biological Engineering) at Seoul National University in 1989, and obtained his Master’s (1991) and Ph.D. (1995) in Biochemical Engineering from the same university.

He began his academic career as an Associate Professor in the Department of Food Science and Biotechnology at Kyungsung University (1998–2007), and has been a Full Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Kyung Hee University since September 2007. He served as Vice Dean of Research and Industry-Academic Cooperation (2016–2020), Dean of the College of Engineering (2022–2024), and was appointed Vice President for Academic Affairs of Kyung Hee University International Campus in November 2025.

Internationally, he was an Invited Researcher at the Institute of Microbiology, University of Göttingen, Germany (1992–1993) and a Visiting Professor in Biomedical Engineering at Cornell University, USA (2006–2007). He has held leadership roles in academic societies, including Chairman of the Biotechnology Division of the Korean Society for Industrial Chemistry (2009–2010) and various board and committee positions in the Korean Society for Biotechnology and Bioengineering (2010–2024). He currently serves as Editor of Bioresources and Bioprocessing (SCIE, Springer), Section Editor of Catalysts (SCIE, MDPI), and Associate Editor of AMB Express (SCIE, Springer).

Raising the level of excellence in education and research
- Nurture transformative, creative convergence talents in engineering and biotechnology
- Implement a future-oriented, advanced academic system in science and engineering
- Invite world-class scholars and recruit excellent faculty in STEM fields
- Create an innovative system of research support for researchers and students in bioprocess and chemical engineering

Expanding the presence of the University and academic promotion projects
- Set goals and implement development plans for the International Campus, College of Engineering, departments, and subsidiary research facilities
- Foster and support excellent academic and industry-linked research institutions
- Inspect and maintain the academic and research performance of the University and associated institutes

Enhance communication, dynamism, and satisfaction of Kyung Hee community members
- Promote and support communication, participation, connective cooperation, and collaboration across campus
- Promote members’ aspiration for self-development and support empowerment in education and research
- Operate through means of competent committees and meetings
- Accommodate members’ opinions and build consensus on academic policies

Assess departmental competency including qualitative evaluation of engineering and science programs
Any other matter of pertinence to the duties above
